Greetings brothers and sisters… Pastor Rob here.
Over the years of living in the country, I have learned a few things about… Skunks! I used to think that they were cute, furry creatures who just happened to smell bad. But I have learned that they can be vicious predators, especially if they get into your chicken house! A skunk, which has keen night vision, can sneak into a dark chicken house and kill all the chickens in the house. The chickens, which are virtually blind in the dark don’t stand a chance. And the skunk, instead of just killing one chicken for his meal, will go from chicken to chicken biting their necks.
As I say, they can be vicious!
The skunk reminds me of our vicious enemy, the devil! The Bible says that Satan can masquerade as an angel of light; he can make himself look attractive, just like a skunk. But, not only does Satan stink, the Bible says he’s looking to devour people. (1 Peter 5:8)
I discovered years ago that skunks do not like being sprayed with water! I was able to drive a bloodthirsty skunk from my chicken yard by blasting him with my garden hose! Not only did I drive him away, but he didn’t spray me back!
I have also learned that the devil doesn’t like being sprayed with water either! The Word of God is likened to water (Eph. 5:26) and when we resist him like Jesus did, quoting the Word of God, the devil will flee from us.
Our weapon against our vicious enemy is the sword of the Spirit, the Word of God! Blast Satan with the water of the Word and drive him from your chicken house!
